Hosting a SCC Provincial or Canadian Championship
Event

There are many
benefits to Hosting an SCC Provincial or Canadian Championship event.
These benefits

Provincial Events have guaranteed entry into the SCC Canadian Championship
event.

Events are recognized on the SCC Websites "Past Champions" page.
Winners of the SCC Canadian Championship Event are additionally recognized
on the SCC's Home Page.
To host an SCC event,
the event must be previously sanctioned by the SCC, and the
SCC Requirements for Hosting an SCC Event, and the
Poster Guidelines
must be met (example of a compliant poster).
These requirements are detailed below and are also available in

Requirements for Hosting a Stick Curling Canada (SCC) Provincial or Canadian
Championship
(Version4 -
Effective October 25, 2007)
1)
The event shall use the Stick Curling Canada (SCC) current rules as published on
the SCC website.
2)
The event shall use a draw approved by SCC.
3)
SCC Provincial Championships shall be held in January or February.
The SCC Canadian Championship shall be held in March or April.
4)
Each province hosting a Stick Curling Canada (SCC) Provincial Championship has
the right to send two teams representing their province to the SCC Canadian
Championship. The SCC Provincial
Championship organizers shall designate the representatives, and notify the
Canadian Championship organizers as soon as possible after the Provincial
Championship of which teams qualify.
Registration for the SCC Canadian Championship, including payment of
fees, is the responsibility of the individual attending teams.
5)
The organizers of the SCC Canadian Championship must hold, until at least one
week after the last Provincial Championship, an appropriate number of entries
into the SCC Canadian Championship to allow the SCC Provincial representatives,
and the previous year’s SCC Canadian Champions, to confirm their entry into the
current SCC Canadian Championship.
At the discretion of the SCC Canadian Championship organizers, SCC Provincial
representative teams and the previous year’s SCC champions not confirming their
entry into the SCC Canadian Championship by one week after the last Provincial
Championship will forfeit their guaranteed entry into the Canadian Championship.
6)
Posters for the SCC Provincial and Canadian Championships shall be produced and
distributed in accordance with “Stick Curling Canada’s (SCC) Guidelines for
Posters”. All posters for the SCC
Provincial or Canadian Championships shall be approved by SCC prior to
publication and distribution.
7)
Organizers of SCC Provincial Championships shall display the poster for the SCC
Canadian Championship at the SCC Provincial Championships.
8)
SURE-SHOT Curling Sticks (www.sure-shot.ca) donates “Trophy Sticks”, $180.00
value, to the winners of all SCC Provincial and SCC Canadian Championships.
SURE-SHOT shall be listed as a “sponsor” of the event, and receive the
same recognition that the other event sponsors will receive.
9)
SCC reserves the right to take actions to ensure the integrity of all SCC
Events, and the integrity of the sport of Stick Curling.
SCC also reserves the right to move or cancel the event if the above
requirements are not met, or if issues that will lessen the integrity of the SCC
Event or the sport of Stick Curling cannot be resolved.
10) It is highly recommended that clubs wishing to host a Championship
Event have a representative attend the previous years event.

1)
“Stick Curling Canada’s Logo
with SCC Sponsors Logo” (example in the header of this document)
shall appear at the top of the Poster in a size preferably no
smaller than 6.5 inches wide, and in the Logo’s
original proportions.
2)
Posters shall be of a size no smaller than 8.5” x 11”.
3)
Posters shall contain:
a.
Event Name;
b.
Location;
c.
Date(s);
d.
Entry Fee; and
e.
Contact Information of the Event Organizers.
4)
Posters may contain:
a.
Reference to ONLY One (1) “major” event sponsor;
b.
Graphics (pictures) suitable to the location or theme of the event;
c.
A
statement indicating the Rules of Stick Curling are available on the SCC Website
at www.stickcurling.ca;
d.
A
statement to the effect that the SCC event is sanctioned by a provincial or
national curling association, if that is the case; and
e.
Other information deemed relevant to the SCC Event.
5)
Posters for SCC Provincial Championships shall be distributed to as many
curling clubs within the province as is reasonably possible.
(NOTE: to minimize costs, it may be possible to distribute the posters
through the Provincial Curling Associations, who regularly send out mailings to
all the clubs within their province).
6)
Posters for SCC Provincial and Canadian Championships shall be published on the
SCC Website.
